One day I’d like to work in the fields of Sexual Abuse/Assault and Mental Health. Why?
From Mariska Hargitay’s (my inspriation) own mouth:
“Someone is sexually assaulted in America every two-and-a-half minutes.
Two-and-a-half minutes.
The time it takes to check your voicemail, read a newspaper article, stand in line and order a cup of coffee. In that time, someone’s body and soul are violated, fractured, eviscerated. In that brief moment, while we order our lattes, someone’s world is torn apart.
It may take hours, days, weeks or even years for the survivors of these atrocious crimes to speak about what happened, to ask for support. Some might never tell a soul, choosing to bear the pain on their own rather than to risk shame and ridicule or—worse—disbelief.”
From Angelina Jolie’s (my inspiration) own mouth on her UN Work (I feel that this can apply to anything you’re passionate about):
“I was asked to write an introduction to my journals, to explain how my journals came to be, why my life took this direction, and why I
decided to start it.As I try to find the answers, I am sure of one thing: I am forever changed.”
“I honestly believe that if we were all aware, we would all be compelled to act.”
“So the question is not how or why I would do this with my life. The question is, how could I not?”
This page will be updated each time I find a link that I think may be useful to learn something from so other people may learn about this topic/s as well. For now the links will only be Australian related.
