While looking through random blogs I found an entry about The Phobia List. Who knew there were so many phobias 0_o Many of them have you staring at the screen thinking, ‘Wtf?!’ lol They are below. The bolded are the outrageous ones.

Alektorophobia- Fear of chickens. LMAO!!!
Alliumphobia- Fear of garlic.
Allodoxaphobia- Fear of opinions.
Amathophobia- Fear of dust.
Anthrophobia or Anthophobia- Fear of flowers.
Apotemnophobia- Fear of persons with amputations.
Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.
Astrophobia- Fear of stars or celestial space.

Helminthophobia- Fear of being infested with worms.
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words. LMAO They kept the name short for this one

Porphyrophobia- Fear of the color purple.

LOL Some of those are so funny and yet so sad. There was a special on guests who were inflicted with horrible phobias just like the ones above. One of the women had Alektorophobia (fear of chickens); she could not look at chickens whether they were alive or packaged in the grocery store. They brought a chicken out to demonstrate and she ran back stage screaming and crying her head off.
There was also a past life special on Oprah one time where they connected this life’s phobias with past life experiences. One woman underwent hynposis to find out why she had a phobia against baby dolls. It turns out in her recent past life, she was a mom who died in a car accident while her children who were in the car, survived the accident. One of her children was just a baby and her baby was the last image that went through her mind before she died. It was creepy.
On the same program, there was another woman who had a phobia of people touching her neck and they found out in a past life, she was a prostitute that was strangled to death. Creepy.
Oftentimes, I wonder if some of my phobias come from a past life.
I think it’s a bit of a joke, they’ll turn anything into a phobia and a disorder. Fair enough being scared of these, but classifying them as a ‘phobia’? I don’t know … maybe i’m too harsh lol.

We did a tiny bit about these phobias in my Abnormal Psych University lecture recently and it’s hard not to laugh lol. (With no disrespect to those that do suffer from these “disorders”
I’ve always found xantophohia (fear of the color yellow) to be pretty weird! lol
But you’ve managed to find many crazy ones! Fear of chickens! lol
