Good lord, what is the world coming to? A prision in Virgina have segregated any women that look butch into what has been nick named the ‘butch wing’. Even straight women are being sent into it. I’m guessing Virginia is a conservative state??

For more than a year, Virginia’s largest women’s prison rounded up inmates who had loose-fitting clothes, short hair or otherwise masculine looks, sending them to a unit officers derisively dubbed the “butch wing,” prisoners and guards say.

Dozens were moved in an attempt to split up relationships and curb illegal sexual activity at the 1,200-inmate Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, though some straight women were sent to the wing strictly because of their appearance, the inmates and corrections officers said.

On the up side, if I were ever in Virginia and got locked up at least I wouldn’t be lonely! LOL!!!

The article said the internet boom was in 1999. Back then i vaguley remember it only being geocities sites (granted I only looked at ‘Spice Girls’ stuff haha). Actual proper domains were rare for fan sites back then. I remember hating having to copy down the uber long and weird URLs lol I only remember one proper domain-one for the SG’s that housed HQ pics. spice-pix.org or something like that?? Back then HQ fan pics were rare as well (by memory). This was all on an IMB as well. I think the Word program had a blue background and white text as well, right?

A hoy hoy! Still alive. Life has been pretty chaotic thus no updates. My step Nanna died last week, the funeral is tomorrow. But besides for nearly everything falling to pieces I’m finding strength from somewhere to keep slugging along. Bernie has been amazing, she’s been looking after me <3

Catherine and I have been working hard on our Mariska site. We have really great plans in store for this site. I think everyone will be suprised and like the direction we're taking it. I’ll write an update about my birthday and other jazz another day, I just wanted to stick my head in to say that I’m still alive. Heh, bad choice of words though.

For those reading you’ll know I had my Uncle’s Burial last Saturday (proper update later). Well this morning I felt that I was finally starting to see through the fog after the past few weeks of grief, I actually felt great. I still felt crap, I’m still grieving, but I could have a laugh.

Tonight my mum came out to the unit with my brother and said, ‘there’s been another death in the family.’ The look on her face said it was bad and I just sad there immediately wracked in fear hoping it wasn’t my grandma. It was my Dad’s youngest brother Bernie (and second youngest of the ten children), he died in a car accident tonight. All I know is that he was on the way home from work and died on impact. Fuck, man… I never met this uncle but am still feeling it. Aunty Angi was very close to him (as with Wally who just passed) and now she has to deal with it all over again He leaves behind a 21 year old girl and a lovely wife whom I’ve spoken to a few times. When is it enough?!?!?!

I’m sure overseas readers have seen Australia’s Bush Fires on the News atm… Firsty I’m okay, I live in a different state but the damage and death statistics are getting worse with each passing hour…

The last reports I saw tonight on the News were:

- 7000 people left homeless
- 188 dead (expected to reach 300)
- $45 million donated to The Red Cross (for the victims) (through people, businesses, sporting clubs etc)
- A few fires have been proven deliberately lit. One person has been charged. The major fires aren’t suspected of arsonists atm.
